Multi-family dwelling
A vacant plot with an unusually generous width — enough space for three terraced houses. Instead, we increase density further and interlock four spacious units. We echo the vertical subdivision so typical of the workers’ houses across the street, though not literally: the rhythm is reinterpreted in a more intricate, puzzle-like way. The new front façade plays with perception and may momentarily mislead the passer-by.
The covered outdoor space acts as the central point of arrival: all front doors open onto this shared zone (both at ground and upper levels). While this shared entrance court is not truly public, the ground-floor façade and paving create a strong connection to the street.
A sectional leap allows us to fit an extra storey within the maximum allowed building envelope. It’s a design investigation — a dialogue with urban planning.
